My monthly newsletter sent at the end of every month, to stay connected and inspire reflection for creating meaningful work and a purpose-driven business. In a couple of days I fly to Europe for a month, landing in Paris for my birthday, where I fully intend to eat my body weight in pastries 🥐 😉 . As one of my birthday gifts, my partner , Travis, is taking me to see a Patrick Watson concert! I'm super excited to see him play live. He's a Montreal musician I've loved for years and Paris is the best backdrop for it. If you're curious, check out my curated playlist I made of my favourite PW songs.
I love the collective family we've gathered over the years in over a decade friendships. And I tell you, I'm the most fun auntie. 😄 Speaking of babies, one of the loveliest things I got to be part of this month was a Balinese ceremony called Nelu Bulanin. It happens when a baby is three months old, and it marks the first time their feet are allowed to touch the ground. Before that, they're carried everywhere, because the belief is that a newborn is still close to the spirit world and hasn't fully arrived on earth yet. We traveled up to Lovina for it, watched the priest's blessings and the purification, and saw this tiny human make first contact with the ground. It was such a cool cultural experience to witness. This week I ran a workshop for a group of leaders and entrepreneurs here in Bali, and the thing we sat with was the versions of ourselves we've been quietly outgrowing. The conversations were so good. We got into how our identities shift over the years of running a business, how different seasons of life ask for a different way of working, and what it actually looks like to let go of the things other people expect of us that are burning us out. These questions are always best answered in conversation with other people, not alone in your own head. I loved getting to lead this one. And how gorgeous is the room we got to do it in? It's been a beautiful month in May, and today I'm heading off to travel in Europe for a whole month. And because it's my birthday, I'm going to be celebrating with a ton of pastries walking the streets of Paris for my first week! Have a beautiful month in June, -Lydia ⏯️ Why I Keep My Business Small (and what it makes room for) In this video I talk about what my business actually cost me when it was bigger, what changed when I stripped it back, and what all that spaciousness made possible when life started asking real things of me. I had a really good conversation with Audrey Kwan on the Small but Mighty Agency. The pressure to keep up with everything that's shifting, with AI, and buyers behaving differently than they used to. If you've been feeling that lately, this one's worth listening to. 🎧 Marketing That Doesn't Feel Like Shit On Ep 5 of the Small on Purpose Podcast, Maira and I have a lot to say about what marketing looks like when it actually feels good. We both share what works for us, what it took to stop performing for algorithms we didn't care about. Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts Maira and I spent this episode talking about how we both stopped running our businesses at one constant speed. What it took to design our years differently and what it actually feels like to take a month off when you need to without everything falling apart. Listen on Spotify or Apple Podcasts A few different ways we can work together, depending on where you are right now: 1 - Tiny Business Method - You've built a real business and it works, but somewhere along the way it stopped fitting. Maybe it outgrew you, maybe you outgrew it. This is my six-month 1:1 partnership for solopreneurs who are ready to stop running the thing they built on default and rebuild it around the life they actually want now → Book a strategy call 2 - Sweet Spot Intensive - You know something's shifted, but you can't quite name it yet. This is a focused intensive session to look at what you've already built, find the part that still feels like you, and get clear on what you're actually working toward. → Apply here 3 - Walk and Talk - Sometimes you just need to think out loud with someone who asks better questions than the ones looping in your head. One hour, audio only, both of us walking wherever we happen to be in the world. No prep, just a real conversation about whatever you're sitting with. → Book a Walk and Talk 💡 Ideas Sparker

My monthly newsletter sent at the end of every month, to stay connected and inspire reflection for creating meaningful work and a purpose-driven business. Hi Reader, I'm writing to you from Pemuteran, up on Bali's northwest coast, where I've been the last few days for a friend's birthday. Getting here took a few hours of driving through parts of the island I don't visit often, and even after living in Bali for as long as I have, there are still these pockets of it that feel completely...

A backcountry Bali hike that led to these beautiful marigolds 🌼 🤩 Hi Reader, August in Bali is our "winter" in the tropics, which means I've actually been able to spend a lot of days outdoors without melting into a pool of sweat. I've been spending a lot of time hiking and having walking dates with friends to soak up the cool days and...
My monthly newsletter sent at the end of every month, to stay connected and inspire reflection for creating meaningful work and a purpose-driven business. First things first - I had to get my butt into my favourite rock cave spa after being on airplanes and different beds on my one month trip away. Being back in Bali always gives me a sense of ease and comfort. Hi Reader, July was a month of really good people. After spending a month in Europe last month and meeting new lifelong friends in...
