March Recap: Launching a Podcast, Making Things, & Redesigning My Space

My monthly newsletter sent at the end of every month, to stay connected and inspire reflection for creating meaningful work and a purpose-driven business.

Hi Reader,

March felt like a month of making things. 🎙️ 🎨

A podcast finally out in the world. A cyanotype class that reminded me I actually am creative, just not in the ways school tried to tell me I should be. A beach weekend with friends. And a little cozy corner of my office that now has some custom pieces I designed personally!

It was so fun to redesign a corner of my office into a dedicated space for recording the podcast. I wanted it to feel completely different from where I usually work, so no laptop, no desk. Just a different kind of energy for a different kind of conversation with my co-host Maira. We're in two different parts of the world (her in Maryland, US, in the evenings, and me in Bali at 6:30am).

So I'm usually in my PJs with a cuppa tea, recording on wired headphones instead of any fancy equipment. The least polished setup imaginable and that feels exactly right. 💜

Check out some photos of the new space. I love the 3D printed lamp I ordered that I've affectionately named "The Blob". And of course Scruffy needed to 'supervise' while I got some help setting up a cleaner workspace 😄 🐶.

I also spent a weekend at the beach with friends and I've been reading a book on Hygge, the Danish concept of coziness and intentional living.

It's been inspiring how I think about the spaces I'm in and what I want to feel inside them.

On the creative side...I tried cyanotype for the second time and I loved it! I grew up thinking I wasn't artistic because I couldn't draw. But it turns out I just needed the right format!

Cyanotype feels a lot like scrapbooking, which is the kind of making I've always loved. It was so nice to find that creative muscle again.

I hope March brought you something good too.

🌿 Work With Me

A few different ways we can work together, depending on where you are right now:

1 - Tiny Business Method - You have a real business but it's outgrown you, or you've outgrown it. You're capable and accomplished and a little tired of doing it the hard way. This is my six-month 1:1 partnership for solopreneurs ready to simplify what they've built and create something that actually fits their life.

2 - Sweet Spot Intensive - You've been in business long enough to know something has shifted. The work you built around doesn't quite fit who you are anymore. I'll help you excavate what's already there, name it clearly, and build around it with intention.

I'm Reading...

  • On AI, Old Money, and Plastic Surgery - My friend Lavinia wrote this awesome article I really resonated with. Use AI the way old money people use plastic surgery, by enhancing what's already there, not the most noticeable thing about you.

I'm Watching/Listening...

  • Rooster - Steve Carell's new series. It's super funny and exactly the kind of show to snuggle up on the couch watching.

  • The Path to Enough - A great Hidden Brain episode with psychiatrist Anna Lembke on the neuroscience of compulsive consumption and how to find your way back from it. Given what I spend my days thinking about, this one felt like required listening.

I want you to know how much I appreciate having the privilege of being in your inbox and a part of your life.

I love having you in our community and value hearing from YOU.

Hi Reader, I'm writing to you from Pemuteran, up on Bali's northwest coast, where I've been the last few days for a friend's birthday. Getting here took a few hours of driving through parts of the island I don't visit often, and even after living in Bali for as long as I have, there are still these pockets of it that feel completely...
