February Recap: Vietnam Adventures, Client Wins, & Business Reflections

My monthly newsletter sent at the end of every month, to stay connected and inspire reflection for creating meaningful work and a purpose-driven business.

Hi Reader,

I've just landed back in Bali after spending the entire month of February on a workcation in Vietnam, and wow - what a month it's been!

Switching up my usual surroundings and working from cafes in Hanoi and Saigon has been exactly the kind of refresh I needed.

One of the month's highlights was surprising my partner for his birthday with a boat trip to Halong Bay. We spent the day cruising around those incredible limestone karsts rising out of emerald water. Being able to create these special moments while still running my business is exactly why I've built it the way I have!

I also had the most amazing experience doing a photo walk in Saigon with vintage cameras, guided by a local who took us to all these hidden spots tourists never find.

There's something magical about seeing a city through both a local's eyes and the lens of an old camera - it slows everything down and helps you notice the little details (of course I found puppies!).

And OMG...the tea houses in Hanoi.

I've become slightly obsessed with lotus tea (it's a Hanoi specialty) and spent hours in these beautiful historical shophouses, sipping tea and getting work done between exploring the city.

The best unexpected joy was bumping into my friend from Vancouver who's also experimenting with this whole living/working abroad thing. There's nothing quite like seeing a familiar face in a completely different context! We had the most productive biz brainstorming sessions over Vietnamese coffee and street food - the change of scenery sparked ideas that would never have come up at home.

One thing that made this workcation so smooth was pre-scheduling all my weekly marketing activities - emails, YouTube videos, etc. - before I left. This gave me the flexibility to have a more spontaneous schedule while still showing up consistently for all of you. It reminded me yet again why I'm so passionate about helping people build businesses that support their lives rather than consume them.

I also used some of that flexible time to reach out to colleagues and biz friends to book more podcast appearances. It's honestly one of my favourite visibility strategies because it feels like having meaningful conversations rather than doing complicated marketing tactics. Plus I can do them from anywhere in the world!

What about you? Have you tried changing up your environment lately, even if just for a day? I'd love to hear how it shifted things for you!

I hope you had a beautiful month!

How to Quit Your Corporate Job in 2025 | 3 Essential Steps Before Leaving Your 9-5 🎬

You know that Sunday night dread? When you're lying there knowing tomorrow means another week of doing work that stopped lighting you up years ago?

In my latest YouTube video, I break down the three essential first steps you need to take when you know it's time to leave:

  • Why emotional preparation matters (even if you think you just need a tactical plan)
  • How to build your financial safety cushion (without a magical perfect number)
  • A fresh way to look at your skills (I promise no boring resume lists!)

Watch it here

🧠 Work With Me

I run a six-figure business working 20-25 hours a week. But more importantly? I actually enjoy my business again.

I have:

  • Time for impromptu trips
  • Freedom to work from anywhere
  • Space to explore, create, and breathe
  • A schedule that puts life first, business second

But the real magic? My clients achieve similar results:

Like my long-term client Tracy, who I've been working with for almost 10 years (!!) and just reached her $250k revenue goal while working fewer hours. We've been auditing her best types of clients, adjusting relationships with projects that aren't serving her (yes to healthy boundaries!), and redesigning her schedule so she can work from different countries while having more time off.

Most importantly, we're helping her reinvent her role in her business to do more high-level work rather than the stuff she's outgrown. Because let's be honest - reaching your revenue goals feels hollow if you're not fulfilled by the actual work.

If you're craving a business that gives you freedom instead of taking it away, I'd love to explore if we're a fit to work together.

My 1:1 coaching experience is perfect if you're:

  • An accomplished professional ready to build something of your own
  • Done with the "bigger is better" narrative
  • Craving work that's both meaningful and sustainable
  • Ready to invest in doing business differently

I'm Reading...

  • Your Business Leadership 5-Point Check Up - My coach Pam Slim shared this brilliant framework for checking in with how you're showing up as a leader. I especially loved her reminder that "leadership is not about having all the answers—it's about showing up with clarity, courage, and compassion." This hit home as I've been looking at how to simplify my business offerings while still making the impact I want.

I'm Watching/Listening...

  • How to Lead the Richest Life Possible - This episode explores the concept of "psychological richness" - how pushing ourselves beyond comfort zones might be more fulfilling than just seeking happiness. Professor Shige Oishi suggests we should look for daily opportunities to explore, get lost, and have random encounters that challenge our routines. My Vietnam workcation definitely gave me this kind of richness! Have you had any psychologically rich experiences lately?
  • How to Find Your Purpose - This episode from The Art of Accomplishment (one of my favorite podcasts!) completely reframes purpose as something to be recognized, not found. It challenges the idea that purpose is some external destination, suggesting instead that it emerges in the moment and is often revealed through facing discomfort. This really resonated as I've been reflecting on the evolution of my business after more than a decade.

I want you to know how much I appreciate having the privilege of being in your inbox and a part of your life.

I love having you in our community and value hearing from YOU.

Hi friends, In 2024, I chose a different path while the online business world kept shouting "scale bigger!". I embraced doing less but better. I celebrated "enough" over endless growth. And you know what? The results were anything but small. This year, I supported dozens of accomplished professionals who traded burnout for freedom by building tiny-but-mighty businesses. I saw corporate escapees find more joy (and often more profit!) by choosing simplicity over complexity. And personally? I...

The business world bombards us with constant pressure to think bigger, move faster, scale higher - as if building an empire is the only path to success. But who decided that was the only way? Can I share something vulnerable with you? In 2015, I had my highest revenue year ever in my business. Sounds great, right? But the truth? I was burned out, exhausted, and questioning everything. Sure, I looked successful on paper, but I felt empty inside. The business had grown, the team was bigger, but...

"There are so many coaches, consultants, and business owners out there. How can I ever stand out?" I hear this question constantly, and I get it. When the market feels crowded, it's easy to think, "What could I possibly say that hasn't already been said?" But there's always something that hasn't been fully addressed. Something that needs to be said...and your unique perspective is the key to finding it. Instead of asking "How can I stand out?" try this: "What's not being said in my industry...
